Upcoming Movie: Queen Of Langkasuka
Can somebody tell me since WHEN Thai film industries come up with such a glorious film??? I thought they do really impressive horror flicks and funny pondan comedies only!
I came across its poster as i was browsing for latest horror movies working in school. The Thai queen is SO diva okeh! I immediately searched further on the movie.
And i ended up clapping like a toy monkey with little cymbals that went short circuit.
In front of the monitor.
Thank God i was alone. Sigh....i'm such a sucker for Diva Queens.
But can you blame me?? I show you some of the visuals.
Would you just look at the set!! Can you spell K-E-L-A-S!! How elaborate is that??!?!
I want a chamber like that also!
I want that off shoulder couture dress also!
I want that head gear also!
I want the jewelries yang seberat 3 kilo tu also!
Even the maid so vogue can! I can't believe it's a Thai film.....can lawan Ang Lee anytime!
Then hor....got the hemsem prince can swim underwater and control all the fishes. Like Little Mermaid jer kan?? Mak suker mak suker!!
Lastly, i leave you with the movie trailer to savour. I dunno when is it releasing but i'll definitely be camping outside the cineplex to be the 1st person in Malaysia to buy the tickets!

Hmmmm...am guessing with that comment that you've never seen SURIYOTHAI (2001) -- and if you ever have the inclination, make sure you check out the original Thai version (rather than the chopped up American release) of that sumptuous historical drama.
Also, for previous works by the director of QUEEN OF LANGKASUKA: Would like to recommend JAN DARA (2001) and the very different BAYTONG (2003).
At the same time, be careful with Thai films: There are many duds along with cinematic gems among them...
The Queens of Langkasuka is actually a fantasy movie based on real life figures in 1600s, Malay Sultanate of Pattani or modern day Southern Thai, thus the unique clothing and even the tengkolok !
The queens' costumes are actually known as " Busana Che Siti Wan Kembang " after the one donned by the well known queen of old Kelantan, just next to Pattani. There are actually a lot of real history involved in this film, the fantasy parts are meant to attract more viewers.
The only downside is that the casts conversed in Thai and not in the supposed Pattani Malay dialect, which is very similar to modern day Kelantanese dialect.
